it's over!
2004-06-24||xx||8:35 pm

exactly 2 months since i last saw this big white empty box. but i need to continue updating now that it's summer.

it has been so busy.

to be quite honest i cant remember everything - but here goes.

May consisted almost entirely of dancing - for my exam and the two shows.

my ballet exam was may 17th - went really well, i think! we still haven't gotten results back yet, though. im sorta anxious for them!

anyway, then my focus switched to the show at artspring - jenna and danielle and i put together a powerful piece to Linkin Park's 'A Place For My Head' - which i just love. it was fantastic. and then there was the piece with gary, which was an interesting experience. he's a strange person. i dont want to sound mean though. but anyway. people liked it and said it was really gorgeous, and so that's good. after that show was my show in Duncan - which i had been looking forward to all year - i love it. and this year i was in 4 dances, 2 ballet and 2 lyrical jazz. they were so much fun, i love them all. on friday night it was La Viennese and Got You On My Mind. a lot of people came over to watch Morgan, Rocio and I - it was so great! Jenna dragged Ryan along, lol, and then Maike, Gabbie, Larissa and Noriko came as well as Maike & Gabbie's host mom and Rocio & Larissa & Noriko's host mom. Sandi and Ashley came, too, as well as Morgan's parents, Bonn, her sister, and my parents. it was great! we had so much fun on the ferry trips, and it meant so much to me to have them there, knowing that they were there for us. so friday was a great night.. although it could have been better, but i'm putting that in the past. anyway, on saturday was the matinee and the evening performances - Hayley and Rocio and I were all in the matinee but it was just Rocio and i for the evening. Upstaged and Mockingbird were on saturday - my cousin Diana, Grandma Dorothy, and my parents all came for the matinee, and Diana just loved it - I love that dance too! and i dont think its EVER gone that well. we were all so into it!! i love how Caitin and I have a pushing war... hehe.. and i love how i win.. lol well not really, cause at the end they rip my skirt off. LOL anyway i love that dance! and mockingbird was good too, i really really love that dance - so short and so sweet, **diamond ring** anyway i just love it. so that was a great couple of days for me! the most important of the whole year to me, cause it shows what i have worked for so hard - and all the memories i have made with my ballet girls from saltspring! we took so many pictures.. it was great. and Jess!! I got a picture with her in her Billy Jean costume (i LOVE watching that dance - 8 1/2 minutes of intense, amazing jazz) - anyway, she is just so sweet and cute. i love her! and she is just in a million dances!

well anyway, the next week at school was okay, although i got pretty sick and still am coughing.. but i still went to all my last ballet classes and even school except for some on wednesday.. but that's fine. and then Jenna and I did our project on the chemistry of mascara - you would never believe how repulsive it is - full of toxic chemicals KNOWN to be carcinogenic. pretty scary actually, especially considering most of the same ingredients are also used to make shampoos, conditioners, toothpastes, soaps, shaving gels, face washes, concealer, moisturizers and lotions, deodorants, etc... things we use everyday... ugh. so gross. ive actually gone with my dad to a store in vancouver to buy some natural stuff, and it's more than twice as expensive as the chemical stuff. you can get a small tube of natural mascara for $30 and a normal sized tube of chemical (ie, regular) mascara for what.. $7?? it's ridiculous.. no wonder the cancer rate is so high.

anyway, onto something less depressing - or is it? school is out for the summer, and exams are over! this grade 11 year has gone by incredibly quickly! and i only just started getting to know a lot of people. hopefully the summer won't leave us disassociated. there are a lot of people i just love .. and all the exchange students - Rocio most of all, cause i just love her!! im going to miss her so much - and i will be so lonely on the trips going to ballet in Duncan.. i'm going to write her letters in spanish, though. hehe. that will be fun.

i dont want to gross anyone out so if you want to skip this next sentence, feel free. my toenail is falling off! ughh.. it was bruised and then got worse and then even worse and now it's dead. and just in time for summer dance programs. such bad timing. but it wont really affect anything except pointe. well anyway, i think that i am not actually going to go to Goh Ballet again this year.. i want to go to Harbour Dance for 3 weeks in july and then a different place for two seperate weeks in august. then it would be more spread out and i would get to experience different places. that would be really cool.. so i think that's what i have decided on. i did go for my audition at Goh today, but i dont think i want to go to their summer school again. I want to try something new.

my dad and i made this deal that if i got an 85% average, he would pay for 3/4 of my ballet in the summer - and that if i got a 90% average, he would pay for all of it! anyway, i think i might have a 90% average - i dont have my spanish mark yet, though. but i'm hoping!!

besides that, dad still wants to go visit uncle mike and auntie audrey again, and im going to be spending some time with joelle at shuswap, and working for dad to keep on saving for Europe (i have a little more than enough to pay for it all, but i want to have plenty for spending money and lots of FILM! i might even invest in a digital camera if i can save up enough.. that would be great.)

but i think that splitting up the ballet is a good idea - 3 weeks in july and 2 weeks in august. then it wont be so.. extreme, kind of. and all my weekends are free! yay!

anyway, im going to sign up for harbour dance tomorrow and hopefully get some work done over here so that i can come back to saltspring tomorrow night - i was reading in the driftwood and apparently there is a groundbreaking thing for the new skatepark on saturday! that sounds really cool, cause with all the skaters on this island that's something saltspring really needs - a decent skatepark! anyway, im only going to go if someone will come with me.

so, i'm off!
